PRLog (Press Release)– Mar 30, 2011– KATONAH, NY — On Sunday, April 3, 2011 at 4:00 pm, Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts presents Baroque cello virtuosa Tanya Tomkins in the Rosen House Music Room as part of the 2010-11 Great Artists in the Music Room series. Tomkins infuses Bach's unsurpassed Unaccompanied Cello Suites with dramatic spontaneity, unusual intensity, and a cultivated knowledge of Baroque performance practice. This program offers a great opportunity to experience one of the most influential compositions for solo cello on an instrument – and with the performance techniques – of Bach's time.

Great Artists in the Music Room The artists appearing in this spring's four-concert series put the 'great' in Great Artists in the Music Room. After leaving indelible impressions with their prior appearances at Caramoor, these artists return to the jewel-like setting of the Music Room—the veritable heart of Caramoor—to share the artistry, mastery, and passion for which they are renowned around the world.

About the Artist Cellist Tanya Tomkins studied in the Netherlands with renowne chrysler d cellist and early music specialist Anner Bylsma. She received her Soloist Diploma from The Royal Conservatory of Music at The Hague. Living in Europe for 14 years, she immersed herself in the study of early music and particularly music of the Baroque period. She founded the Trio d'Amsterdam, which toured extensively throughout Europe and subsequently made its New York debut at the Frick Collection.

In 2001 Tomkins won the Erwin Bodky Competition for early music soloists in Boston; she was the first cellist to be awarded the prize. As a performer of Baroque music, Tomkins serves as co-principal cellist of Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra and the Portland Baroque Orchestra. She has been featured as soloist with Philharmonia Baroque; American Bach Soloists; the Oregon Bach Festival; the Mozart Festival in San Luis Obispo, California; at an early music festival in Paradise, Montana with acclaimed English Baroque violinist Monica Huggett; and at the Göttingen Handel Festival.

Tomkins did not neglect the repertoire for the modern cello. She became equally fluent in this music and toured as a soloist and as a member of the Euridice String Quartet and the SoLaRe Trio. As an active recitalist and chamber musician on the modern cello, Tomkins has performed at major concert halls, including the Amsterdam Concertgebouw Recital Hall, Lincoln Center, and the 92nd Street Y. Music festival appearances include the Moab Music Festival in Moab, Utah and Music in the Vineyards in Napa, California, and the Umeå Chamber Music Festival in Umeå, Sweden.

As part of the Zivian-Tomkins Duo, Tomkins collaborates with pianist and fortepianist Eric Zivian on both modern and original instruments, and she is also a member of the Left Coast Chamber Ensemble and the San Francisco String Trio.

Essar Energy Defers Planned Shut Down of Indian Oil Refinery

PRLog (Press Release)– Mar 28, 2011– Essar Energy said Monday that it was deferring a planned 35 day shut down of an Indian refinery to later this year in response to customer requests and fuel shortages on international markets.

The energy group had planned to shut down the Vadinar refinery in Gujarat for 35 days, which had been planned for May and June, but Essar said the shut down would now be deferred u alfa romeo ntil September and October of this year.

The refinery shutdown has been deferred until after India's monsoon season, but Essar said this would not impact the schedule for commissioning of the Vadinar phase 1 refi chrysler nery expansion.

Essar said the ramp up of the new refinery units will start during the third quarter and that the majority of the increase in production is expected from the middle of the fourth quarter of 2011.

The company said it had deferred the refinery shut down following requests from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd., Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd., and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. cadillac ; acura

The public sector customers had urged Essar to continue production at the refinery due to tightness in Asian markets for petroleum products, particularly gasoil, following recent events in the Middle East and Japan.

The shutdown is being undertaken to integrate the existing refinery with the new units linked with the Vadinar phase 1 refinery expansion.  The expansion will increase capacity to 375,000 barrels per stream day from around 300,000 currently and raise complexity to 11.8 from 6.1.

Essar said this will enable the refinery to process a larger share of ultra heavy and heavy crude oils and to produce high grade Euro V fuels which can be marketed to international customers.

The company will also conduct routine maintenance work during the refinery shut down.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer Seasons 1-7 DVD Box Set,One of the Finest Shows I've ever watched

PRLog (Press Release)– Mar 26, 2011– If I'm having a bad day I can always count on Buffy to cheer me up (or, even if it's one of those cases were I just need a good cry I can always count on Buffy for that as we audi ll). It's the perfect blend of so many different qualities...it's humour, action, romance and just incredibly well written, believably flawed characters. I'm not exactly sure wher ferrari e auto part all the haters came from, it's honestly seems to me that this is a case of judging a show by it's title.

http://all4dvds.com/buffythev dodge ampireslayerseasons17dvdbox ...

There's little I can say about Buffy that won't become redundant, there is not much to find fault with. Sure it's got it's bad episodes, bad story arcs just like any show. But what kept me coming back with the razor sharp wit and characters that became like a family to me.

This is a beautifully written show and if you can make it past the goofy title, fantastic premise and (for many people) the campy first season (You'll grow to love the camp upon re-visiting it) you'll discover one of the best show's in recent memory.

Confused.com comments on Transport Select Committee report

PRLog (Press Release) – Mar 23, 2011 – Confused.com is backing the findings of the Transport Select Committee's report into the rising cost of motor insurance and is supporting the Committee's calls for a full government consultation on planned changes and a timetable for implementation.

The car insurance (http://www.confused.com/car-insurance) comparison website, which provided evidence to the inquiry in November, has itself previously called for issues of fraud, raised penalties for uninsured drivers, better education and support for young drivers and better data sharing to be implemented in order to help tackle the root cause of insurance premium rises.

Gareth Kloet, head of car insurance at Confused.com, said: "During 2010 the average fully comprehensive car insurance premium rose by 38.2%*, and now stands at £695. Unless measures are taken premiums will continue to rise and more motorists may be tempted drive uninsured, underinsured or make fraudulent claims in an attempt to save money, which will only serve to increase premiums further.

"We fully support the idea of having a dedicated police unit that will help tackle insurance fraud, one of the major causes of the sharp rise in premiums.  Cash for crash schemes are not only dangerous but cost honest motorists as they ultimately foot the bill for these 'accidents'.  Confused.com firmly believes that improving data sharing between the DVLA and insurers will also help reduce instances of fraud.

"In addition to increasing transparency around referral fees and payments in the event of a claim, we would also argue that a structure for compensation claims and a set limit on legal fees be implemented, as per the Lord Jackson review."

On the issue of young drivers, Confused believes a number of actions are essential. 15% of young drivers currently cause 31% of all accidents. These accidents lead to 40% of all motor insurance claims, so implementing measures to reduce fatalities and serious injuries amongst this group is essential.

Confused believes this is especially important given the recent EU gender ruling which will see young women's premiums rise to the same level as young men's.  Making the driving test harder, re-assessing the pass plus scheme or getting insurers to offer discounts for those who have had additional training and increasing the use of telematics devices should all be investigated. At present the penalty for being caught driving uninsured is a maximum £1,000 with an actual average fine of £200.  Given that the average premium for a male aged 17-20 is currently £2,976* and for women in the same age group £1,694* the incentive to gamble is too high and must be addressed.

Gareth continued: "We join the calls made by the select committee for action to be taken, starting with a full consultation and timetable for change. It's high time we started tackling the root causes instead of talking about the implications."
